MTV Politicos Unplugged

NEW YORK -- After airing only one episode, MTV has pulled the plug on the Truth to Power Hour, a supposedly hip alternative to the usually drab Sunday morning news talk shows, hosted by actor Sean Penn and former Playboy Playmate Jenny McCarthy, which featured a decidedly alternative viewpoint on current events.

A Viacom spokesperson would only say that production on the program may have been rushed resulting in a somewhat premature premier broadcast.

The company refused to comment on a Secret Service investigation into the litany of bellicose threats on President George W. Bush's life which arose during Penn's show opening interview with fellow actor Alec Baldwin, after which former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani surprisingly refused to appear in a scheduled segment with McCarthy.

The resulting extended round table discussion on current events with Bob Dylan, Keith Richards and Joe Walsh was described by a more charitable TV critic as "a trio of Tourette's trippers on an excruciating forty minute LSD flashback."

Penn decried the "gestapo-like" tactics of the Bush Administration in the "jack-booted" cancelling of the show and censoring of his views. He vowed that with the help and money of MoveOn.org he would carry the fight for his First Amendment right to free speech to the highest court in the land.

"I couldn't figure out what the heck was going on," said McCarthy. "I just wish those old guys had been close-captioned for the Sixties impaired."
