Twitter Drops Plans for Female Only Network

SAN FRANCISCO -- Twitter has quietly shelved plans for a real-time information network designed for exclusive use by women.

"We are, of course, both disappointed and perplexed at this regrettable decision, since social networks have become increasingly hostile environments for women with the growing presence of reactionary, misogynistic Tea Party-types, including the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity" said Ms. Alicia Fingletart, President of the local chapter of the National Organization of Women. "All we want is a testosterone free zone for us women to safely converse and share our thoughts and feelings."

A Twitter spokesman declined to comment, though unnamed company sources have cited grammatical reasons for the decision.

At the heart of Twitter are small bursts of information called Tweets. Each Tweet is 140 characters long, but don’t let the small size fool you—you can discover a lot in a little space. You can see photos, videos and conversations directly in Tweets to get the whole story at a glance, and all in one place.

Eva Longoria, Co-Chair of President Obama's re-election campaign committee, has gained recent notoriety for her "Tweet."
